For a Del Mar book club gathering last night, the hostess, Alice McNally, made my aunt Mae's recipe for Sock-It-To-Me Poundcake. It was even more delicious than I remember and the perfect accompaniment to a discussion of White Gloves and Collards. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine cake mix, sour cream, oil, sugar, and eggs and beat with a mixer for two minutes. Pour half of batter into a greased and floured tube pan. Sprinkle with filling and add rest of batter. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes and remove from pan. Combine the glaze ingredients and pour over the cake.

- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup sugar
